New high-end controller appliance
Busy day today it seems for HP Networking product launches.
Next to the 5900CP datacenter switch, HP has also released the 870 Unified Wireless controller today.
This can be seen as the appliance version of the 20G Unified Wireless service module for the 7500/10500 (supporting 1024 APs).
While the 20G service module is great when there is already an existing 7500/10500 in the network, the switch chassis adds a significant cost if a deployment only needs a scalable wireless controller.
Scalability
This is the gap the 870 can cover, and cover very well, since it can handle 1536 APs with a single controller.
