HP IMC eAPI: deploying CLI commands part 1

The HP IMC eAPI can now also be used to directly deploy CLI commands to devices supported by the ICC (Intelligent Configuration Center).

The ICC is already very powerful due to its vendor independent approach using device adapters (ICC can manage provision, cisco, comware etc devices through CLI), so having the eAPI functions for the ICC module means these same functions can be accessed through the eAPI interface for scripting purposes. What happened ? Well, nothing bad, since the test was done in a lab environment, but it was something like:

  • we need to add a new vlan on a core IRF system
  • we need to configure a range of ports as vlan trunks and permit the new vlan on these trunks

Provision: multi vlan tagging on interfaces

Probably one of the most frustrating “features” of provision was the fact that you could not add multiple tagged vlans at once on a port.

On the provision asic switches (5400/3500/3800/8200) with a rather current release (K15.12 or later), this major 😉 new feature has been added.
